Why did Yevuri create Pho Lifers?
Growing up, Yevuri felt that Vietnamese culture was heavily underrepresented in the media. Now, Yevuri hopes to create a game where Vietnamese culture can shine.
Why "Pho Lifers"?
In Vietnamese culture, reincarnation plays a significant role. The goal of the game is to find someone you’ll be with not only in this life, but in the next. Pho Lifers is a play on the phrase ‘for lifers,’ suggesting that pho leads you to your soulmate for life and beyond.
Is there a lore to Pho Lifers?
The main character’s mission is to find the love of their life. Pho traces its roots back to the French colonization of Vietnam, which is also when the main character first met their soulmate, a soldier in the war. Just like in the present day, the main character owned a pho stand, which led to their first encounter with their soulmate. After the soldier’s death in the war, the cycle of reincarnation began. Now, the main character must find their soulmate again through pho. Yevuri hopes to explore Vietnam’s struggles and triumphs through this game.
